I’ve seen so many gorgeous Orla dresses on Instagram but I wasn’t sure it was a good style for me. Then I found out the pattern (by French Navy) was free decided it was worth giving it a try. I was a bit worried about the length of the bodice, the position of the waist and the general fit on me so I decided to make a toile…
It fits perfectly! Honestly, there is nothing I will change and I will probably keep making this dress again and again. I cut the size medium. The shoulders and back fit perfectly, which are areas that are often a problem for me. The waist sits right where it should. The only issue with this dress is that I used a polyester (that I bought on a whim and immediately regretted it so it has been sitting in my stash for a while) so it has a bit of a static problem. Even with that, it’s going straight into my rotation.
Big thumbs up for the Orla dress. It is easy to make, lovely to wear and I have a feeling it is going to be an incredibly versatile and much loved pattern for me. Watch for more Orla dresses because there will definitely be some coming. This one is going to become an all-season favourite, I can tell!
Thanks for stopping by!
